San Cristóbal El Bajo

Like the Nazareno de Candelaria, that of San Cristóbal is attributed to the friar and artist of the Colonia Juan de Aguirre, originally from Peru.

The face of Jesus of Humility shows indigenous features, the slanted eyes and lowered cheekbones, but the general treatment is Mannerist. The sculpture is quite stylized its gentle and spiritual expression, the simplified and pointed short of the beard are characteristic features of this beautiful image, the color is olive and free of excessive emotions.

It was consecrated on the fifth Saturday of Lent in 2005.
