La Catedral de San José

This magnificent sculpture of Cristo Yacente or Señor Buried is one of the colonial images that remained untranslated to the new capital of the kingdom, after the earthquakes of Santa Marta in 1773 and is jealously exposed to religious worship in the parish church. The authorship of the image is attributed to Quirio Cataño, who was also in charge of the Santo Cristo del Perdón that is in the same parish.

In 1982, Cardinal Mario Mazariegos consecrated the image on January 30.
