Catedral de San José

The Blessed Virgin of Soledad, due to the special features of the sculpture in its size, has been determined to be from the 17th century, a baroque style of sublime expression, which the writer, Mr. Jorge Aguirre Matéu, attributes to the remarkable sculptor Antigüeño Sr. Pedro de Mendoza, who made his work towards 1635.

But in reality, most of the colonial sculptural works appear as anonymous, since the sculptors left their works blank and the painters were in charge of polychromising them.
